October 29 Is Organic Cotton Day
The Japan Organic Cotton Association (JOCA) designated October 29 as Organic Cotton Day to raise awareness of the value of organic cotton and encourage people to reflect on their daily lives, craftsmanship, and the environment.
The date comes from a Japanese wordplay connecting the numbers 10 and 29 with the phrase for “good organic cotton.” October is also cotton harvest season, making it a fitting time to reflect on the value and potential of organic cotton.
A Material That Connects People and Craftsmanship
Organic cotton is about more than environmental considerations. It connects the people who grow cotton, the people who transform materials into products, and the people who use those products.
At Kawasaki Ribbon, we also create ribbons made with organic cotton.
Since our founding in 1921, we have continued our ribbon-making tradition in Fukui, Japan. We remain committed to valuing our materials and creating ribbons with consideration for both people and the environment.
Organic Cotton Day 2026
Today, we are attending the commemorative event for Organic Cotton Day 2026 in Tokyo.
We look forward to hearing from people with different perspectives, discovering new ideas, and reflecting on the future of responsible craftsmanship.
We hope this special day inspires more people to discover the value and possibilities of organic cotton.
